Who could make this up?
My 19 year old received a random request to accept a friend. This girl had no idea what was about to happen!
She didn't have any shared friends with Ashley but she did have a very familiar last name - her birth mother's. Ashley asked the name of the girl's mother. She had passed but her sister was the person Ashley named.
While Ashley has always known she was adopted at 5 days old it was public and so the law requires she is 21 before either side starts looking for the other. In Ohio public adoptions start with foster status so we had all the paperwork. When she was 14 or 15 she asked if we knew her mother's name and I told her.
It's been quite an emotional night for her. I always promised I would help her find her birth mother when she was old enough. I have been looking on FB for her off and on. I never dreamed Ashley would be found first.
She's not ready she said to her new friend and to me. Ah, the dark side of social media....
